HABIBIE DAN AINUN (2012)
by Faosan Rizal
★★★☆☆
Let's think Habibie dan Ainun as a mouth-watering tenderloin steak. It is made from the finest beef. It is clearly have nice budget, popular actors, and good script material. It is cooked extremely well-done with good period costumes, warm cinematography, and good actings. It has some burns in it; bad fake snow, non-oldify makeup, and some unnecessary shots. Overall, it just tasted right. But then, it is wrapped in a plastic bag and being labelled as, let's say, Burger King's steak. Just like last year's Di Bawah Lindungan Kaabah, my experience of watching Habibie dan Ainun is occasionally ruined by product placement. It breaks my connection to the film and makes me think about it as a "so so". Too bad, such a premium steak goes wasted.
